FIFA has received a written commitment from Iran’s Football Federation according to which Tehran will allow women to attend domestic club league, Reuters reported.
Under international pressures, the country has provided in October for the first time in 40 years a section for female fans to watch national team matching Cambodia in Tehran.
FIFA had sent a delegation to Tehran to ensure women were allowed in the stadium to watch the match with Cambodia.
The move came after a young female fan in Iran put herself on fire because of legal charges she faced after security forces arrested her for trying to enter a stadium.
Iranian women had been banned from watching men’s games shortly after the Iranian Islamic Revolution in 1979.
