The UK, Germany and France have written to the UN Security Council detailing Iran's violations of its 2015 nuclear deal.
The letter did not explicitly threaten to "snap back" UN sanctions, but it noted that Security Council Resolution 2231, which enshrined the nuclear deal and provided that power, expires on October 18, 2025.
The European countries’ letter also cited a report by the UN nuclear watchdog last month that highlighted Iran's nuclear advances violating the 2015 deal, including by expanding its stockpile and production rates of highly enriched uranium.
In its own letter, Iran rejected the European stance.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran rejects all the allegations raised in the letter and reiterates its position concerning its peaceful nuclear program and the JCPOA,” Iran’s Envoy and Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani addressed the UN Security Council in the letter.
