Iran's Statistical Center released a report on Monday, June 22, on the country's economic growth during the 2025–2026 Iranian fiscal year.

According to the report, economic growth was 0.2 percent including oil, while non-oil economic growth contracted by 0.3 percent.

The report stated that Iran's gross domestic product (GDP) during the past fiscal year exceeded 100 quadrillion rials including oil and 75 quadrillion rials excluding oil.

During the past year, Iran experienced the 12-day war with Israel, the January 2026 protests, and the 40-day war involving the United States and Israel.

These developments, together with severe international sanctions and widespread corruption, may have contributed to the country's economic slowdown.

Some economists have warned that Iran's economic growth could continue to decline during the current year, potentially pushing inflation into triple-digit territory under the most pessimistic scenario.

Such an outcome would significantly erode the value of the national currency and further increase economic uncertainty.

Earlier this month, Hojatollah Mirzaei, the former head of Iran's national pension funds, warned that under new economic scenarios, Iran's economy could contract by 8.5 to 10 percent, with an estimated 4.5 million additional people falling below the poverty line during the current year.
