US President Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday that France share the same stand with his country when it comes to Iran’s nuclear issue.
“I don’t think we have differences over Iran. I don’t think that the president wants to see nuclear weapons and neither do I…and they won’t have nuclear weapons,” Trump said during a joint press conference with France President Emmanuel Macron in northern France.
Trump has also claimed that “the powerful sanctions” changed Tehran’s behavior.
For his part, Macron emphasized the France’s sharing view with Americans over Iran’s nuclear program, insisting that Paris would not accept if Iran want to obtain nuclear weapons.
In addition to preventing Tehran from nuclear power, the France President talked about three other objectives that Iran must follow: reducing its ballistic testing, containing its regional activities and create peace and stability in the region.
Both France and German as two powerful European states have been trying to save Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal despite the US exit.
In latest attempt, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas announced that he will travel to Tehran next week in order to recover Iran nuclear deal.
Iranian Supreme Leader, Seyed Ali Khamenei, has been constantly criticizing Rouhani’s administration for signing the deal back in 2015. He also described any kind of negotiation with US akin to poison.
