At least 30 Iranian journalists are still imprisoned in connection with waves of protests sparked about four months ago over the death of Mahsa Amini, the Tehran journalists association said Wednesday.

Demonstrations have swept Iran since the September 16 death in custody of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old ethnic Kurd, after her arrest in Tehran for allegedly failing to adhere to the law.

"Around 70 journalists" have been detained since mid-September, the association said in a statement.

Some have been released on bail while "30 journalists taken in for questioning are still detained," said the organization while releasing their names.

The list includes Iranian journalists Niloufar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi, who helped expose the case of Amini.

"Since the start of the protests, a large number of journalists have also been summoned" by the authorities, the organization added.
