Four members of the armed forces of Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) were killed on Tuesday in a heavy clash with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in Sarvabad heights, sources told Avatoday.

The conflict occurred in the heights between the villages of Paygelan, Dezun and Sureh-Tu, in Sarvabad district, in Kurdistan province. It erupted on Tuesday afternoon, with shots fired from both sides until Tuesday night.

Avatoday sources, who talked on condition of anonymity, said the IRGC artillery units stationed in this region shelled the heights prior to and during the clash.

At least nine members of the IRGC were also wounded in this conflict, according to a report by Hengaw. The report said that one severely injured female PJAK fighter was taken as hostage and later shot dead by Sarvabad's IRGC commander, near the village of Sureh-Tu.

PJAK is an armed opposition group of Iranian Kurds affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Their fighters are based in the mountainous border areas between Iran's Kurdistan province and Iraq's Kurdistan Region.
