Iranian Minister of Defense Brigadier General Amir Hatami said Sunday that Iran will export weapons and arms after UN sanctions are lifted in mid-October, Iran’s Mehr News reported.

“Iran will use all capacities in the world to meet its arms requirements, selling and exporting weapons after sanctions removal,” Hatami said on National Defense Industry Day.

“Sanctions did not create any restrictions, rather, the country attained all progresses and achievements in the defense industry in sanctions condition,” he added, according to the agency.

The United Nations Security Council Friday rejected a US resolution to extend an Iranian arms embargo.

US President Donald Trump promised Saturday to use what is known as “snapback technique” to unilaterally restore UN sanctions on Tehran.

The US President referred to a controversial provision of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which argues that the United States remains a “participant” in the 2015 agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), despite its stated withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018, and consequently can force a return to sanctions, if it sees Iran as being in violation of the deal’s terms.
