According to reports received by Avatoday, Iranian security forces have intensified their pressure on Jahangir Rostami, a retired Kurdish teacher and cultural figure from the city of Harsin in Kermanshah Province.

After his arrest, authorities reportedly transferred him to Evin Prison in order to force his son into making a coerced confession.

According to these reports, Ehsan Rostami, Jahangir’s son — a translator, writer, and independent cultural activist has also been transferred to Evin Prison.

Sources indicate that Jahangir Rostami has been subjected to severe torture and mistreatment aimed at exerting psychological and physical pressure on his son to extract false confessions. It is also reported that both Jahangir and his daughter were brutally tortured during their detention on October 15, resulting in serious injuries to his face and head.

Reports state that on October 22, security forces brought Jahangir Rostami—visibly bloodied and injured—before his son Ehsan in Evin Prison, in an attempt to intimidate him and coerce him into accepting fabricated charges.

It has also been reported that, in addition to Ehsan, Ramin Rostami, another relative of the family, has been arrested.

According to those close to the family, both Ehsan and Ramin Rostami had gone on hunger strike in recent weeks, prior to their arrest, to protest the ongoing threats and pressure from Iranian security forces.

In response to this wave of repression, the Teachers’ Union of Harsin issued a statement strongly condemning the arrest and torture of members of this Kurdish cultural family, expressing deep concern over the continued intimidation and harassment of Jahangir Rostami’s family by the Iranian authorities.
