The Danish state reveled further details of alleged terror attempt by Iranian intelligent forces against political activists in its soil, pushing for EU sanctions against Tehran, Danish media reported on Wednesday.
Danish foreign minister, Anders Samuelsen, said the attempt was planned to carry out against three Arab separatist leaders from Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz, who live in Denmark.
He also declared that Iran’s act is “totally unacceptable”, while recalled the Danish ambassador to Tehran for further discussion. Iranian ambassador was also summoned over the case in Copenhagen.
Previously on Tuesday, the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) announced that its forces in collaboration with Swedish and Norwegian police arrested an Iranian agent, who was planning to carry out a political assassination in Denmark.
Denmark said it will discuss the matter with other European countries, and will reportedly seek EU sanctions against Tehran.
Iran denied the assassination plan and called it a conspiracy, which aimed at distorting Tehran’s progressive relations with European countries.
EU states have been trying to save Iran’s nuclear deal, which US has already left. Iran is waiting a new round of sanctions in early hours on November the 5th.
