US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Washington believes both Iran and Hezbollah will retaliate against Israel as early as Monday.
Blinken has warned the Group of Seven (G7) nations that an Iranian-led attack on Israel could occur as early as Monday, Axios reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Blinken's warning comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following the assassination of key Hezbollah and Hamas officials, which has prompted fears of a broader regional conflict.
Blinken also told the G7 nations that the US was trying to break the escalatory cycle by trying to limit the attacks by Iran and Hezbollah as much as possible and then restrain the Israeli response.
He also urged the countries to apply diplomatic pressure on Iran, Hezbollah, and Israel to maintain maximum restraint. He also added that bolstering the US presence in the area was aimed at defensive purposes.
