An Iranian revolutionary court held the second trial of a journalist on charges linked to her coverage of a Kurdish-Iranian woman whose death in custody last year sparked months of nationwide protests.

During the trial, Niloofar Hamedi told the judge that she was proud of what she had done as a journalist, her husband said in a tweet.

According to a tweet by Mohammad Hussein Ajorlu, the second trial of Hamdi was held on Tuesday.

Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi, another journalist, were two reporters who covered the news on Jina Amini’s death at the hands of Islamic Republic Morality Police in September. They have been detained since.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on Monday strongly condemned the “closed-door trials” of Hamdei and Mohammadi.

“CPJ stands in solidarity with Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammdi, their families and all Iranian journalists who have been harassed, imprisoned, and persecuted for doing their work, and calls on the international community to hold Iran accountable,” said CPJ Program Director Carlos Martínez de la Serna on Monday.

“Trying journalists in closed hearings is a travesty of justice and the strongest indication that there is no evidence of wrongdoing,” Martínez de la Serna said.
