A senior Israeli security official said on Monday, June 29, that the number of cyberattacks attributed to Iran against Israel has risen dramatically since the United States and Israel launched military strikes against Iran on February 28, 2026.

Yossi Karadi, Director General of Israel's National Cyber Directorate, told the German newspaper Die Welt that Israeli authorities recorded approximately 1,600 hostile cyber incidents in June 2025, coinciding with Israel's military operation against Iran.

He added that during the same month in 2026, the number had increased to around 4,800 incidents.

Karadi said, "Some of these groups are highly skilled. We can deal with them, but we must take them seriously. Unlike the military arena, there is no ceasefire in cyberspace."

He explained that the attacks targeted systems used by Israel's critical infrastructure, central government institutions, small and medium-sized businesses, and ordinary citizens, citing law firms and accounting firms as examples of smaller targets.

The Israeli official added, "So far—and I hope it stays that way—we have managed to repel attacks against critical infrastructure."

Karadi also said that companies with weaker cyber defenses have often suffered complete deletion of their computer systems. He did not identify the affected companies.

Iran has generally denied carrying out cyberattacks against other countries, while frequently reporting that it has itself been the target of cyberattacks.
