A young Iranian woman, who set herself on fire in front of Tehran’s courthouse on September 2 protesting her six-month jail term for trying to enter Azadi Stadium, passed away on Monday in hospital.
The victim’s full identity has not revealed yet, but Iranian media refer to her as “Sahar K.” She is also known as “the blue girl” on social media, indicating her favorite football team’s color code.
Her father and sister told Shahrvand Newspaper on Monday, “Six months ago she was arrested, trying to enter Azadi Stadium using male disguise.”
The blue girl had been informed by court that she faces a six-month jail term for her attempt to enter Azadi Stadium.
Doctors have previously said that 90 percent of the girl’s body damaged by fire flames, after she rushed to hospital.
According to journalists based in Iran, “the blue girl” was hospitalized in Motahari hospital in Tehran.
Authorities have reportedly threatened her family and asked them to remain silent.
