A top conservative Ayatollah in Iran criticized the country’s authorities for cancelling Friday prayer amid a new coronavirus outbreak throughout the country.
Ahmad Alamolhoda, the Friday Prayer Imam of the holy city of Mashhad in northeast Iran, is also known as a very close figure and supporter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Alamolhoda has obeyed the decision but claimed that the cancellation of Friday prayer is not necessary, calling it “unjustifiable” order.
Iranian authorities decided to cancel religious, culture and sport events hoping to prevent further escalation of the deadly virus.
Previous statistic reported to Avatoday on Wednesday noted that 488 people died of the virus in Iran and at least 6000 cases were reported to hospitals throughout the country.
Numbers of reports noted that Iranian regime has been denying the death toll and arrested several doctors and nurses who have been accused of leaking the information.
