British Foreign Secretary warned Iran not to miscalculate the situation by provoking Americans because if US interests were attacked then Washington will react, Reuters reported on Monday.
“I would say to the Iranians: Do not underestimate the resolve on the US side, “Jeremy Hunt told reporters.
His warning came on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
“They don’t want a war with Iran. But if American interests are attacked, they will retaliate. And that is something that the Iranians need to think about very, very carefully,” he said.
Iran’s head of Revolutionary Guards claimed yesterday that US is afraid of waging a war against Tehran.
“The difference between us and them is that they are afraid of war and don’t have the will for it,” Major General Hossein Salami told Iranian news agency IRNA.
Hours later a rocket landed in an abandoned building near the US embassy in Baghdad’s green zone.
Both Iranian foreign minister Mohamad Javad Zarif and US president Donald Trump exchanged hostile tweets since the Sunday’s attack.
“If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the United States again!” reads a tweet by US president.
In response, Zarif has also warned “Iranians have stood tall for a millennia while aggressors all gone. Try respect---- it works!”
