The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in a statement on Wednesday confirmed its military operations in the Kurdish regions of Iran.
Earlier, The Kurdistan Free Life Party reported on the attacks of the IRGCs in Kosalan district of Marivan city.
A senior commander of the IRGC quoted by Iranian state media said that these areas are being "cleansed" of "anti-revolution groups" and this operation continues until "the destruction of the last of these people".
The Kurdish opposition party said in its statement published on Tuesday that "at 5:30 a.m. on June 12, 2023, the enemy [IRGCs], with hundreds of soldiers equipped with drones, dozens of armored vehicles, bulldozers and digging equipment started an operation against the Kosalan region.”
The IRGC has attacked positions it said were held by the Kurdish groups several times since the beginning of protests in Iran in the past few months triggered by the death in custody of Kurdish-Iranian woman, Jina Mahsa Amini.
