US President Donald Trump on Monday imposed new sanctions on Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his office amid rising tensions between the two countries, Reuters reported.

British foreign minister Jeremy Hunt said on Sunday his country is “almost certain” that Tehran targeted the two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman last week.

The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo said based on the US examinations, Tehran is responsible for Thursday’s destruction of two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. 

The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed on Wednesday new sanctions against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force financial conduit, South Wealth Resource Company (SWRC) based in Iraq.
