Three men were convicted on Monday by a Kurdistan Regions court in Erbil for the terror of a top member of Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDP-I), an opposition group which has its headquarters in the region.

The victim, Qader Qaderi, was killed in 2019 in Iraqi Kurdistan. His party has blamed Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) for the terror.

IRGC, a US-designated terrorist organization, has been known for its political terror both inside and outside the country.

The three men have confessed that they were asked by and received money from Irans Revolutionary Guard to conduct the terror, a member of the party who is familiar with the case told Avatoday on condition of anonymity. He was not allowed to share sensitive information with the media.

Mala Osman Hizopi, who is convict number one, was a very old friend of Qaderi. His team received 100,000 USD from Revolutionary Guards for this operation, the source said.

All the three men have been sentenced to death.

Local reports indicated that the court has briefly mentioned the role of a foreign side but has not elaborated further.
