According to published reports, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, members of the group Jaish al-Adl ambushed and opened fire on a vehicle carrying the commander of the Shahrderaz checkpoint, near Iranshahr in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

According to these reports, in this military operation against Iran’s terrorist forces, First Lieutenant Haghighat, the deputy commander of the Shahrderaz police checkpoint, was killed on the spot.

Based on credible reports, this individual played a leading role in the repression of local residents and was also responsible for the killing of several young Baluch individuals.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic has proven incapable of controlling the protests and, as a result, has resorted to using foreign forces for repression.

In this context, it has been reported that since the beginning of last week, January 2, Iraqi militias affiliated with the Iranian government have begun recruiting forces to assist the Islamic Republic’s security forces in suppressing protests in Iran.

According to this information, so far around 800 Iraqi Shiite militiamen have been deployed to Iran. Nearly all of them are members of Kataib Hezbollah, Harakat al-Nujaba, Sayyid al-Shuhada, and the Badr Organization.

The reports indicate that Iraqi government officials are aware of the mobilization of these forces to assist the Islamic Republic, but have not yet publicly reacted to it.

Further reports state that the transfer of these forces is being carried out through the Shalamcheh, Chazabeh, and Khosravi border crossings. Their official cover is described as a “pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad,” but in practice, these forces reportedly gather at the Khamenei base in Ahvaz before being deployed to various regions to participate in the violent suppression of protests.
