Hundreds of troops and heavy weapons were transferred by the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kurdish cities in the last few days, footage shows.

Videos from Kurdish cities such as Sanandaj, Bukan, Mahabad, and Saqez, published in several media outlets, indicated that Iranian regime fully militarized Kurdistan as the country marks the death anniversary of the Kurdish Iranian woman Jina Mahsa Amini on September 16 in police custody, which sparked a popular uprising last year.

Armed forces with heavy troops were seen marching in the streets in the Kurdish cities, an eyewitness from Amini’s hometown, Saqez, told Avatoday on Wednesday.

Amini was arrested by Iran’s moral police for violating strict Islamic dress codes for women. She died hours later in hospital after security forces had reportedly hit her.

Hundreds were killed and thousands were wounded by Iranian security forces during the protests, which was the biggest challenge to the Islamic regime of Iran since they took power in 1979.
