According to some confidential sources, Iran’s major military commander, Qassem Suleimani, met with a group of pro-Iranian militia leaders in Syria, asking them to prepare for any conflict with Americans.
The source, who talked to Avatoday on condition of anonymity, noted that the meeting took place in Syrian city of Albu Kamal.
“Suleimani told the militias to use any possible opportunity to fight US interests in the region, especially in Syria” one of the source told Avatoday on Friday, adding that the Iranian commander asked the group to get prepared for possible clashes with Washington.
Suleimani, who is the commander of Quds forces of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, is known as Tehran’s most influential military person who has been leading the country’s proxies in the region especially in Iran and Syria.
Tensions have been rising between Washington and Tehran more than ever in the past few months, with both using a threatening language.
