Iran suffers huge agricultural losses due to deadly floods, says official

A report by Iranian local newspaper, Hamshahri, quoted a local official who indicated that the heavy floods throughout the country last week caused 180 million USD losses in agriculture, VOA English reported.

The head of the agriculture’s ministry of crisis management department, Seyed Mohammad Mousavi explained that the losses are especially occurred in nine provinces, which include Kermanshah, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Fras, Golestan, Kuzhestan, Mazandaran, Semnan, North Khorasan, Sistan and Baluchestan.

According to the source 50 percent of the damage is farm related. The rest is divided among horticulture, water infrastructure, delivery networks, livestock and fish.

Massive floods hit Northern as well as southern parts of Iran for days, leading to a serious national crisis. Data shows that about 30 provinces throughout the country stuck in floods.

According to the official reports, a number of 44 people died as a result of the recent massive floods.
