Iranian Parliament rejected on Sunday a draft to increase the price of cigarette, Iranian state media ISNA reported.

“The Parliament rejected a draft to increase the cigarette by 50 Rial ($0.0003) in the coming year,” the report says.

Since US President withdrew from Iran nuclear deal last year in May, Iran has been facing severe financial crisis.

While the price of meat, chicken and egg has tripled and people queue for hours to receive 1kg of frozen red meat, the price of cigarette and drug has not increased for years.

Activists accuse Islamic Republic of spreading drug throughout country on purpose and to divert the youth from political and social issues.
