Thousands of Iraqi protesters in Baghdad shouted slogans against Iran on Thursday, celebrating a soccer win against Iran.
The match, which ended in 2-1 victory for Iraq, sparked a new wave of protests against the neighboring country over its increasing invasions in Iraq.
Football fans were seen wearing black in honor of hundreds of protesters who were allegedly killed by Iranian snipers.
During the Match and when Iran’s national anthem was played before the match, Iraqis were chanting “Iran out, Baghdad will be free.”
Tehran is highly criticized for its interventionist agendas in Iraq. Thousands of Iraqi protesters stormed the streets to protest corruptions, low-quality of life and Iran’s growing role in Iraq.
