According to reports received by Avatoday, on the evening of 5 December 2025, Qader Younes‑Pour, a Kurdish civil activist and former political prisoner from Oshnavieh, in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, was attacked with a sharp weapon by three unknown individuals and killed.

Eyewitnesses said that Younes-Pour was seriously wounded in the attack and died before he could be transferred to a medical center.

He had previously joined the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in the battle against ISIS in the Sinjar region and later returned to Iran.

According to published reports, he had been repeatedly summoned by security agencies before this incident and was reportedly threatened by unknown individuals.

On 8 December 2025, hundreds of citizens and civil activists from Oshnavieh took part in his funeral ceremony.

Ali Tavakoli, the police commander of Oshnavieh County, claimed that so far two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder and a judicial case has been opened against them.

However, there is still no official information about the motives for the killing or the identities of the attackers.
