On the third anniversary of the state killing of Jina Mahsa Amini, four Kurdish women’s rights activists in Sanandaj were summoned to the intelligence headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iranian Kurdistan.
According to a report received by Avatoday, on Tuesday, September 16, Simin Chaychi, Fatemeh Zandkarimi, Marzieh Moradveisi, and Sousan Razani reported to this security agency after receiving official summonses, where they were interrogated and pressured to sign written commitments.
A knowledgeable source stated that this measure was part of a broader pattern of summonses, interrogations, and threats targeting civil activists, women, and families of victims in recent days, with the aim of preventing gatherings or participation in any events related to the anniversary of Jina Amini.
According to the same source, several other activists have also been subjected to repeated threatening phone calls by security agents.
These four women have previously faced judicial harassment, arrests, prosecutions, and prison sentences:
- Fatemeh Zandkarimi, a teachers’ union and women’s rights activist, has been repeatedly summoned to the Intelligence Office and Sanandaj courts in recent years on charges such as “assembly and collusion against national security” and “disturbing public order.”
- Sousan Razani, a labor and women’s rights activist, was arrested during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising and prosecuted in multiple cases on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
- Simin Chaychi, a poet and women’s rights activist, has been interrogated on several occasions in connection with International Women’s Day activities.
- Marzieh Moradveisi, a civil activist, has in past years been arrested and prosecuted on charges of “acting against national security” and sentenced to both custodial and suspended prison terms.
