Sara Hossein, head of the UN Independent Fact-Finding Committee, on May 27, referring to the reports of this committee about the human rights situation in Iran, that the death of Ebrahim Raisi should not overshadow human rights violations there.

In this letter, Sara Hossein described the situation of human rights in Iran under the rule of the Islamic Republic as "dire", especially in relation to women and children, and added:"The fact-finding committee, which is in charge of obtaining the facts on people's suppression after the nationwide protests of 2022 in Iran, stated in its latest report that Iran is a clear violator of human rights in this regard, and some of their actions are examples of crimes against humanity."

In the continuation of this letter, while warning about the possibility of Raisi's death affecting "serious violations of human rights and violations of international laws" by Iran, he expressed concern about the repressive policies and measures taken in Iran and demanded an end to these behaviors.

Also earlier, Narges Mohammadi, Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has protested to the United Nations for holding a memorial ceremony for Ebrahim Raisi in a letter.

The former Iranian president was one of the judges involved in the summer of 1988 in the death sentences of nearly 7,000 political prisoners
