The Human Rights Center of Iran reported on Saturday, May 23, that judicial authorities in Iran’s Semnan Province had sentenced Leila Ramazani and Fatemeh Malek-Ahmadi to a combined total of 53 years in prison. The two women were accused of sending videos to television networks and of “communicating with television channels opposed to the government and providing content and information” to these media outlets.

According to the report, Fatemeh Malek-Ahmadi was sentenced to 26 years in prison and Leila Ramazani to 27 years in prison. They were also barred from government employment, prohibited from leaving the country, and deprived of membership rights in political and social parties and groups.

The human rights website HRANA also reported on Saturday that Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht had once again sentenced Manouchehr Fallah, currently imprisoned in Lakan Prison in Rasht, to death. His death sentence had previously been overturned by Iran’s Supreme Court, and the case had been referred to a parallel judicial branch for reconsideration.

According to HRANA, the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz also sentenced Hojjat Al-Mohammadi, a political prisoner held in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, to 21 years in prison. Iranian authorities arrested him in September 2024 and charged him with “propaganda against the system,” “disrupting public order,” and “cooperation with anti-government groups.”
