Despite heavy crackdown by security forces, workers of Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) in Ahvaz southeast of Iran, alongside with workers of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Factory went on strike on Tuesday, demanding their delayed salaries and privatization of the two factories.

The workers who have been on strike for 17 ongoing days, say that they will continue to protest until they met their needs.

“They (security forces) threatening us from jail. We are not afraid of being jailed anymore,” Karim Sayahi, a worker of KSC tell his coworkers in a video obtained by Avatoday.

“We the workers of KSC, which is number one steel producer in Iran, will not leave this square until we meet our demands,” Sayahi added.
