Iranian intelligence forces on Wednesday have arrested at least three university students in the Kurdish city of Sanandaj without any elaboration on their charges.

Arshad Atabak, Moslem Soleimani and Zaniar Ahmadpour, who are students at Kurdistan University in Sanandaj, were detained by security forces, a close friend reported to Avatoday adding that the detainees’ whereabouts remain unknown.

“All of them were threatened on social media before their detentions. Arshad was receiving threatening messages in the past five days,” the source told Avatoday.

The intelligence forces have reportedly refused to inform the detainees’ family members of their charges.

Iran has been arresting thousands of activists and students since internal dissatisfaction has been on the rise.
