Ali Akbar Velayati, a top foreign policy advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday in Tehran received leaders of Syrian tribes from east of the Euphrates River where American troops are deployed.

According to a report by Al-Awsat Velayati told his guests that Tehran opposes the establishment of a buffer zone in Syria. He has also rejected any kind of foreign meddling in the Middle East.

Velayati accused US forces of “robing” Syrian oil and condemned US President Donald Trump’s decision to keep American forces where the oil fields are located.

Iran has been highly criticized for its own interventions in Syria, but Tehran said their presence in the country was upon a call by Syrian regime.

Israel is actively opposing Iranian forces in Syria and has been targeting the Islamic regime’s bases inside Syrian soil.

In the latest development, Syrian monitoring group announced earlier this week that explosive rockets had struck pro-Iranian militias.

Israel often declines to comment on these attacks, but has repeatedly said it will oppose Iranians in Syria because Tehran provides financial and military supports to proxies who fight and attack Israel.
