Azerbaijan’ state maritime agency announced on Friday that it rescued all nine crew of an Iranian Ship before it sunk in the Caspian Sea, Reuters reported.

The ship named Shabahang had sent distress signal on Friday afternoon after getting into trouble.

Two helicopters and a border patrol vessel were reportedly participating in rescue mission.

There has been no report from Iranian media on the incident, while Azerbaijan confirmed the news.

It is not clear what cargo the Iranian ship was carrying, and there have been no information about where the ship was heading or the type of technical problem(s) that caused the failure.
