The news outlet Axios, citing an Israeli military official, reported that on Tuesday, March 3, the Israeli Air Force targeted the building of the Assembly of Experts in Qom. According to the official, the strike was intended to disrupt the process of selecting a new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.

According to the report, the attack took place while members of the Assembly were counting votes. It remains unclear how many of the 88 members were present at the time or the extent of the damage caused.

Among the most significant sites targeted during this period was the Eshratabad Garrison, located in Tehran’s so-called “Sepah” Square. The facility had previously served as a base for the Air Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and, over the past decades, functioned as a detention and interrogation center for political and civil activists.

Images showing the complete destruction of the Abbasabad police station in Tehran were also published on the Persian-language account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.

Several police stations and law enforcement headquarters in Tehran and other cities, as well as multiple bases of the Basij across the country, were reportedly struck during attacks late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

At the same time, reports emerged of military and security forces being stationed inside schools. A female resident of Shiraz stated that military barracks in the city had been evacuated and that forces were relocated to girls’ schools.

On Tuesday, March 3, even Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, held his press conference in a classroom instead of the ministry’s main building.

Countering and dismantling the Islamic Republic’s naval capabilities—particularly those enabling interference with commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman—was among the objectives of the U.S. and Israeli operations against the Islamic Republic, objectives that President Donald Trump emphasized in his speech on Monday.
