According to HRANA, the woman — identified by Iran Human Rights as Ra’na Faraj-Oghli — had been sentenced to qisas (retribution in kind) for killing her husband, who was 19 years older than her.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights that Ra’na Faraj-Oghli, originally from Tabriz, had been forced into marriage at the age of 16 to a man 19 years older, who also had three children from a previous marriage.
The source added that Ra’na’s family had pressured her into the marriage because of the man’s strong financial situation, and that he had bought a pickup truck for her father to work with.
