According to reports received by Avatoday, on Thursday, October 23, the body of Yasin Seyfpanahi, a 20-year-old from Dehgolan and one of the detainees of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising, was found dead at his home.

Sources confirm that in recent weeks, unknown individuals repeatedly contacted and threatened Seyfpanahi.

The Dehgolan Forensic Medicine Department immediately claimed the cause of death was suicide, but his family and acquaintances firmly rejected this, stating that—given his previous detention, torture, and continuous security harassment—Yasin was murdered.

During his detention in the Intelligence Organization’s facility of the Islamic Republic, Yasin was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture, leaving deep trauma. Even after his release, the Intelligence Office continued to pressure his family, warning them not to speak to the media or human rights organizations.

Yasin, a young athlete and wrestler, was well-known and respected in his hometown. However, according to relatives, after being released from prison, he became silent, withdrawn, and emotionally unstable.

A family member stated: “Yasin was an athletic and very social person, but after his arrest and the security pressures, his behavior and spirit completely changed. The family felt he was hiding something and avoided speaking about certain things.”

Yasin Seyfpanahi was arrested on October 19, 2022, for participating in the memorial ceremony of Reza Lotfi, one of the victims of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising, and was released after three months in detention on bail.
