An Iranian hardliner cleric has reportedly used his power to impose a death sentence on Mohammad Javad Vafaee Thani, an Iranian boxer champion, who was accused of attacking the cleric’s office during protests in Iran.
Ahmad Alamolhoda, the Friday Prayer Imam in Mashhad and representative of Khorasan Razavi province in the Assembly of Experts is believed to be the force behind imposing a death sentence on Vafaee Thani.
The 27-years-old was detained during an anti-regime protest in March 2019. He was sentenced to death on the charges of “Corruption on earth.”
