Iranian state TV said on Wednesday that the country had foiled an attempt by the United States to "steal" oil in the Sea of Oman.
Iran's Mehr news agency said the development is linked to a recent confrontation between speedboats of Iran's Revolutionary Guards and an American ship which left the scene.
The agency vowed that the footage would be aired soon.
Neither state TV nor Mehr News Agency mentioned the exact date that the incident had reportedly taken place.
