Iranian Ministry of Transportation announced on Saturday that its network had been hit by a cyberattack.

According to a statement by the ministry, the attack took down the websites and links associated with it, showing false messages on display boards across the country, claiming trains had been delayed or cancelled.

It was reportedly the second attack to hit the ministry’s network in two days.

Telecommunications Minister, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi warned about ransomware cyberattacks.

Iran has been targeted by several cyber-attacks in recent years.

In late 2020, Iran announced that hackers launched large-scale attacks on two of its government institutions, without giving details on the targets or the suspected perpetrators.

Iran’s nuclear program was hit by allegedly a joint US-Israeli Stuxnet computer virus in the late 2000s.
