Videos received by Avatoday on Wednesday show bakeries are closed in several provinces across Iran due to a severe shortage of bread.
In other places, people had to stand in line for hours to buy bread.
The US officials have reiterated that medicine, food and humanitarian aid is not sanctioned, but Iranian officials blame US sanctions for the shortage.
The government also distributed papers among the bakers blaming US sanctions for the current bread shortage.
“Curse America for the hiking prices. It’s not (Iranian) Government’s fault,” reads a paper stick to the wall in a bakery.
