In a joint move with its Arab Gulf allies, The US Department of Treasury imposed on Wednesday new sanctions against individuals, banks and networks who are supporting Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and its proxy, Hezbollah.

In a statement US Treasury announced that: “Today, the seven member nations of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) jointly designated 25 targets affiliated with the Iranian regime’s terror-support networks in the region.”

The actions were taken ahead of Secretary of Treasury’s trip to the Middle East.

“The TFTC’s action coincides with my trip to the Middle East, where I am meeting with my counterparts across the region to bolster the fight against terrorist financing,” said Steven T. Mnuchin.

“This is TFTC’s largest joint designation to date, and is focused on entities supporting Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s regional proxy, Hizballah,” the statement added.

According to the statement, 21 targets out of the total 25 “comprised a vast network of business providing financial support to the Basiji Resistance Force (Basij).”
