According to reports from Ahvaz-based human rights sources, Hashem Eidani, an Arab citizen and political and religious activist opposed to the Islamic Republic, was killed on Sunday, October 26, in the village of Khabineh Olya, located in Esmaeiliyeh Rural District, Central District of Ahvaz County, following a raid by agents of the Iranian Intelligence Organization.
Local sources report that on the morning of the incident, dozens of vehicles with both civilian and police license plates entered the area and surrounded Khabineh Olya village from all sides, extending the cordon to the Umm al-Temir area along the Karun River.
Eyewitnesses stated that Iranian security forces besieged Hashem Eidani’s house and then opened fire directly at him as he attempted to flee through the Karun River, killing him.
According to the reports, the security forces blocked all routes leading to the village — from Baghaei Hospital to Umm al-Temir — preventing anyone from entering or leaving. After the shooting, the forces reportedly entered the river with motorboats and divers, retrieved Hashem Eidani’s body, and took it away. However, they later informed his family that his body had not been found.
Local sources say the body of this Arab activist has still not been handed over to his family, and security and military forces remain stationed in the area. The Eidani family has also been threatened by security agencies and warned not to hold any mourning ceremony.
