Iranians on social media are criticizing the country’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and the government for their “lack of interest” to protect nationals when “the rest of the world were taking action to avoid Coronavirus outbreak.”
“While the rest of the world took necessary actions to protect their citizens, Iran kept daily flights to China upon Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ request in order to collect enough money for their endless wars in the region,” an Iranian national wrote on Instagram, which is the most popular social media among Iranians.
Iraq ordered a travel ban on Iran to avoid consequences as several cases of patients with Coronavirus confirmed in the country’s city of Qom. Kuwait halted its flights to Iran, too.
Iran’s Mahan airliner declared on Thursday its passenger flights stopped traveling to China about 20 days ago and the current flights are under “Islamic Republic’s order” and are aimed at offering “humanitarian aids.”
According to Iranian authorities two people died of the virus on Thursday and several others remain quarantined.
Iran avoids revealing further information about patients’ nationalities. Whether people, who are undergo a quarantine, were also tested positive or not remain unclear.
“They might be family members of the two dead patients, or they might be diagnosed with the virus themselves. People do not know anything. It is so scary,” an Iranian citizen wrote on Twitter.
Iranian health officials said they have evacuated two hospitals in the city of Qom as a part of preparations for the outbreak.
Unofficial reports claimed cases of coronavirus have been seen in the country’s capital city of Tehran and several other cities.
“The government or the Revolutionary Guards do not care about people. They have no interest in protecting us. All they care about is their own power,” an Iranian woman wrote on Instagram.
The death toll from the new coronavirus in mainland China reported above 2,000 on Wednesday.
