A large-scale marine war game called “Velayat-97” has been located in the strait of Hormuz by Iranian Navy forces, a clear sign of the country’s neglect of international concerns on its military program.

Commander of Iranian Army Navy Hossein Khanzadi announced the news during a press conference after the event on Thursday.

“Velayat-97 marine drill will start in four stages of maritime parade, real battleships, amphibious warfare, anti-amphibious warfare and power displaying since today, and will continue for a week,” said the Iranian commander according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.

Iran increased its military manoeuvres in the strategic strait of Hormuz as the country is facing economic and political crisis.

In the last few months, Iran has been launching missiles towards neighboring countries such as Iraq and Syria and toward outer space.

Last May, US President Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 Iran Nuclear and re-imposed international oil sanctions against Tehran since November.

Trump’s administration has a special focus on Islamic Republic’s missile program and transferring weapons to its proxy forces. Washington is also hoping to change Tehran’s behavior using sanctions.

Israeli Ambassador to UN, Danny Danon, urged the Security Council last month to stop Iran from its missile threat.

“This act of aggression was committed in clear violation of Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015), passing the Annex B threshold that prohibits Iran from engaging in ballistic missile activity,” Danon explained.
