Mohammadreza Majidi Asl, 34, a resident of Tehran, was violently arrested on January 9, 2026, in the vicinity of Republic Street in Tehran by intelligence forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to reliable information received, his arrest involved severe beatings, and immediately after being transferred to a detention facility he was subjected to intense physical and psychological pressure to extract a forced confession.
According to Majidi Asl’s relatives, the interrogation process and case formation proceeded at an unusually rapid pace, to the extent that he was denied access to a lawyer at all stages.
His case was reviewed by the Tehran Revolutionary Court in a brief process lacking standard judicial procedures, and the primary charge of “moharebeh” (enmity against God) was brought against him — a charge that in recent years has been widely used against protesters and activists and is often punishable by death.
Following his arrest, Majidi Asl was allowed only a few limited phone calls with his family, and during his last call he reported extremely harsh conditions and heavy pressure without providing further details.
