An informed source in Iran’s health sector on Friday told Avatoday that 42 people diagnosed with coronavirus died in the last 24 hours, adding to the already alarming number of victims in this country.

The source who talked on condition of anonymity said: “the country’s situation is alarming, despite the government’s ongoing denial.”

“From 13:00 o’clock on Thursday to 13:00 o’clock on Friday, 42 patients suffering from coronavirus recorded dead. In addition, 931 cases were tested positive, while 2467 suspected cases are waiting for their test results,” the source informed Avatoday.

Numbers of reports noted that Iranian regime has been denying the death toll and arrested several doctors and nurses who have been accused of leaking the information.

Iran has officially declared that it will take legal actions against anyone spreading what they called “fake news” about the outbreak of coronavirus, its scale and the number of the death toll in the country.

Previous statistic reported to Avatoday on Wednesday noted that 488 people died of the virus in Iran and at least 6000 cases were reported to hospitals throughout the country.

Iraq, Kuwait, Emirates, Pakistan, Bahrain, and Lebanon have reported their first cases of coronavirus in the past few days—all linked to Iran.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has urged government around the world to take 'aggressive measures' to prevent the virus.

The official total number of people infected worldwide by Coronavirus has now reached above 80,000 with 2,700 recorded deaths.
