Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday that his country will continue to breach its commitments unless Europe play its own role to salvage 2015 nuclear deal.

“If Europe cannot operationalize its commitments, Iran will take its third step to reduce its JCPOA commitments,” Iranian President reportedly told Macron during a phone call.

According to a report by UN atomic agency published by Reuters on Friday, “Iran has gone further in breaching its nuclear deal with world powers, increasing its stock of enriched uranium and refining it to a greater purity than allowed.”

France has been trying to negotiate with Iranian officials to reduce recent tensions between Tehran and Washington and to save the nuclear deal.

In May 2018, Trump withdrew from Iran’s nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and reimposed international sanctions. Tensions have been rising between the two countries since then.
