Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Javad Zarif said in a statement on Wednesday that his country would agree on negotiation “if Saudis are ready to talk.”
The surprising statement was published by Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
“If Saudi Arabia is ready to talk, Iran is always in favor of negotiation with neighbors,” Zarif announced.
The two rivals, Iran and Saudi Arabia, have been known for their pro-longed hostility and their conflicting-interests in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister’s remark came following a visit by United Arab Emirate’s delegation to Tehran on Tuesday.
UAE officials have reportedly called Iran meeting a success.
There has been no immediate response to the Iran’s statement from Saudi Arabian Officials.
