A terror cell known as Seleka in central Africa accused of deadly attacks and spreading anti-Western propaganda was dismantled this week in the country of Chad.
"The cell was arrested in Chad, a country in which had been visited by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this year,” Israeli news outlet i24NEWS reported.
Iran “was behind the recruitment and training of men between the ages of 25-35, several already belonging to a designated terror group operating out of the region, known as Seleka, to commit terror attacks against Westerners residing on the continent,” the report stated.
The head of the terror cell, Ismail Djida, told the Israeli news outlet, “We want to create an army to fight against Westerners in Africa.”
The agency claimed that Iran paid the leader of Seleka over $100,000 to recruit terrorists and launch attacks in order to distort relations between African countries and Israel.
Israel and Chad have only recently restored diplomatic relations after nearly 50 years after the African country cut ties due to political pressure.
