In recent days, Naser Bakrzadeh, a 26-year-old Kurdish political prisoner from Urmia, has once again been sentenced to death by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, presided over by Judge Shahini, on charges of “espionage for Israel.”

This new ruling comes after his previous death sentence was overturned and the case was referred to a parallel branch for retrial. In the past week, following his summons to the Office of Sentence Enforcement at Urmia Prison, the death penalty was officially communicated to him.

Earlier, Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, under Judge Najafzadeh, had also sentenced Bakrzadeh to death on the same charge. That verdict was later annulled by Branch 39 of Iran’s Supreme Court, which ordered a retrial at an equivalent court.
