Iran’s oil minister Bijan Zanganeh expressed his country’s disappointment on Tuesday from unexpected responses of Italy and Greece as the two countries do not buy oil from Tehran even after US waiver.
The two European countries, according to the minister, have not responded to Iran’s calls when frequent efforts made to reach them.
Zanganeh was quoted by Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency, saying that “none of European countries are buying oil from Iran except for Turkey.”
A number of countries received US waivers on importing Tehran’s oil including Turkey, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Iraq, Italy and Greece.
“America has granted exemption, yet they don’t buy oil from us and they don’t even answer our question,” the oil minister explained, adding that “we have called them many times, but they don’t return our calls.”
US President Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 Iran Nuclear deal in May 2018 and re-imposed international oil sanctions against Tehran since November.
The US temporary waiver is designed to give more times to several countries to find new sellers.
